Babs Hogan
M.Ed., Wellcoach, Author, and Speaker

Babs Hogan, M.Ed., is a Wellcoach, writer, and seasoned public speaker. For twenty four years, she has enjoyed a variety of opportunities in the health and fitness industry. After graduating from Texas A&M University, she was a high school teacher and swim coach. The completion of a master’s degree from the University of Texas @ Tyler opened doors in cardiac rehabilitation, teaching kinesiology at Kilgore College and public speaking. From there, she opened a personal training center, worked with the American Heart Association for 11 years on many community projects, and continued presenting seminars at the local and national level.

In 1998 and 1999, she worked with Cory Everson and her Fit Camp staff in Malibu, California. 1998 was a turning point for Babs’ career; working with Cory was her longtime career goal. In addition to working with Cory, Babs was featured in SHAPE Magazine twice in 1999, in the April and July issues.

In 2000, she moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and worked at several fitness clubs and spas in sales, personal training, and as a wellness speaker. In 2004, her first article was published and instantly got “hooked” on writing. Since then, she has written for Texas Christian University, the American College of Sports Medicine, the University of North Texas Health Science Center, and WellcoachTexas.com.

As a Wellcoach, she provides clients with the framework of the process of change. Being in the health/fitness business for many years has taught Babs many lessons regarding human behavior. When working with clients, she watches for “red flags,” such as living in the past. Babs believes that when people allow old wounds to govern their present lives, they don’t grow personally and they exist in self-limiting conditions. This mentality inhibits the person from moving forward and reaching new heights. One of Babs’ favorite authors, Carolyn Myss, Ph.D., calls this state of mind “woundology” and suggests that the “only way to release the grip is to take more responsibility for the quality of your life.” Babs agrees.

The key to reaching any goal in life is to take control over what you can change and since you can’t change the past, the future may provide you with endless possibilities for a full, enriched life. This pro-active approach can move mountains, if taken step by step. Wellcoaching follows a step by step process that assists clients in setting and reaching attainable goals in a timely manner.

Babs Hogan’s philosophy in summary: “You can get more out of life by not setting limits on yourself. Approaching life without limits puts you in control, right now. Living a successful life is clearly a continuous balancing act.” MaximumBalance.com provides key elements that will guide you along your journey.

Babs lives with her husband in Arlington, Texas.
